Day 1

Day 1

Devotion Bible reference: Exodus 33:11, 14-17

I began going through this devotion series in the book “Forty Days on the Mountain” by Stephen Smallman in 2017. This devotion commitment began during a period of 40 days of prayer and fasting with my church family. This began as a personal commitment to Bible study guided by this devotion book, but the LORD allowed it to grow into a time of writing my reflections and prayers. Some of these I shared with members of my church family. Years later, I am able to share these study notes candidly in a different forum. I pray that this serve the purpose in the life of any others who read this, as it did when the LORD originally delivered it to me.

You will see that there were very different experiences with God each day.

From the passage in Exodus 33:11, 14-17, my consideration of this writing on day one , is that I should recognize from Moses’ experience that he would not stop praying until he secured the continued presence of God. And as in the case of Moses boldly petitioning God – I pray: “God, please show me Your glory.”

As the LORD leads, pray with specific intent for members of your family each day

Prayer for my son: That God would bless him with peace. Thank God for the strength of endurance he has demonstrated and the experiences he uses to have empathy toward others.
