Day 01 Do you know where you're headed?
Branch Staton
Response Commentary to corresponding entry from the Devotional "Man of Purpose and Power" by Dr. Myles Munroe.
This was day one. We didn't really have a plan going into this so, on day one, originally I didn't have much of a response. I wrote down in my journal the key quote from this passage. That was, “if we're living in God's plans for us, we have found the key to our existence.”
I also wrote my response to the thought for this day’s devotional. The thought for day one was: “if someone were to ask you where you're going in life, what would you answer?” My response was that I'm trying to lead my family in a way that demonstrates fulfillment through Christ. I'm attempting to equip them to know to rely exclusively on the Lord, despite the worldly instructions to rely on themselves. I'm pointing to Christ with my life and relying on Him to subdue my own selfish nature.
In going through each of these days’ devotionals, it was important to take note of the scripture references. Sometimes I would copy them. Sometimes I would take note of scriptures that were leading up to the references that Doctor Monroe included. But always I would make sure that I read the associated scripture passages before I began to read the devotional entries. For day one, I specifically wrote into my book the words from Proverbs 16:7 - When a man's ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him. It didn't surprise me as we went through this, that many of the scripture references very specifically dealt with struggles I was facing on my own personal journey.
