Day 03 Understanding Your Purpose
Branch Staton
Response Commentary to corresponding entry from the Devotional "Man of Purpose and Power" by Dr. Myles Munroe.
The theme continued in the devotional today of understanding God, in order to understand your purpose. A key statement from the devotional today was, “You should come to know God because you want to find out how not to waste your life.”
The thought for the day was: “The greatest way for you to find purpose is to yield your life to the Manufacturer.” My response to this was: We don't make ourselves for a purpose. We are made for a purpose. Therefore, when we try to achieve our own purposes, we defy the nature of our creation. Only in seeking to achieve God's purpose for our lives can we function according to the way God perfectly made us. Otherwise, we will only ever be lesser versions of ourselves.
After spending a good part of my meditation this morning on Psalm 19 (A suggested reading from the devotional) I wrote in my notes that I needed to specifically memorize these verses:
Psalm 19:7 - the law of the Lord converts the soul
Psalm 19:9 - the fear of the Lord is clean
Psalm 19:12 - cleanse me from secret faults
Psalm 19:13 - presumptuous sins
Psalm 19:14 - let the meditations of my heart be acceptable in Thy sight O Lord, my strength, and my Redeemer.
Matthew 11: 25-28 - knowledge comes from God, at His discretion.
