Day 08 Where Purpose is Unknown, Abuse is Inevitable

Branch Staton

Response Commentary to corresponding entry from the Devotional "Man of Purpose and Power" by Dr. Myles Munroe.

The title for today's devotion is true, unless we wait for God to reveal his purpose and study and pray for him to show us what to do.

I pray that I don't consider this too greatly looking at others if I should be considering it reflexively. Nonetheless, I see the attempt at righteousness misapplied, and therefore fully weigh Proverbs 14:12 which says “there is a way that seems right, but in the end leads to death.” and although I believe I am correct to have left regular fellowship that would have required submission to misguided leadership (Proverbs 14:7 Go from the presence of a foolish man, when thou perceive best not the lips of knowledge in him), I'm compelled to seek restoration of that fellowship in order to set aright the misapplication of God's purpose in the church. I'm saddened by the abuse and missed opportunity in the church because out of a compassionate heart, the body and the head believe that kindness, in and of itself can be the fulfillment of the mission of Christ. However, a desire to serve Christ does not mean that the wrong part of the body can serve in the function of another, simply because it wants to.

Response to thought: God has created us with gifts and talents that are intended to be used to fulfill His purposes.

We cannot allow our own purposes and desires to corrupt the path to God's will. Nonetheless, God's plans will be achieved (Isaiah 14:24) The Lord of armies has sworn: as I have purposed, so it will be; as I have planned it, so it will happen.
