Day 6

Day 6

Life Is a Temporary Assignment

At the opening of this chapter, I thought it was going to be about how our lives are short, so we need to make the most of them. I expected something from Solomon that resembled “Vanity of vanities.” instead, the ambassador analogy was much more significant to me. I've seen the T-shirt “This isn't my home, I'm just visiting,” with, “I've got a mansion in heaven” on the back. That's all nice sounding, and the concept of getting too comfortable in a foreign land, to the point of becoming a traitor - well that started to hit closer to home. The new eye-opener was the clarity on how it just doesn't make sense to get comfortable here, on this side of eternity. See, I have no doubt that my eternity with the Lord God is secure. And I understand totally that I'm here on earth to serve and honor God with my life. That's my joy. So then, why would I ever consider that there would be anything here that I would prefer, over what awaits me at my homecoming to my true eternal home, where my true loyalty, love, citizenship, and eternity reside? Of course, I will experience joy on earth... But I won't miss it. I will strive for the eternal. With true joy!
